Your opinions on this business opportunity, please

I've been looking into this small business opportunity that involves making custom designed wrappers/labels for candy bars, small candies, water bottles, etc. It's a franchise low start up cost, been around for many years. I don't see many distributors in my area either.

People buy these for weddings, parties, promotional events, corporate events, etc. I often make custom candy bar wrappers for my kids' parties and they're always a big hit, but I'm not sure about doing it as a business.

I guess my question is just what do YOU think about it as a profitable side business in the Detroit area? Have you been to weddings or other events where they had water bottles with wrappers advertising the company or event? Or weddings or clubs and they had candy pieces with custom labels? Most companies I've worked at have bought these kinds of things but I think they order them from large printing companies.

Since there aren't really any other distributors around here, I wonder if its because they tried it and quit, or it just hasn't caught on?

My first impression is that with so much available software out there people do their own things without the need of a third party.
