Women get no help from Detroit police

Question. The article mentions the WSU police. Do they have the same authority as the Detroit police?
Are they under the command of the DPD?

Yes, WSU police have the same authority as DPD and are able to arrest and lockup criminals. They even have their own lockup to hold criminals until DPD can take them over.

And they wonder why police-community relations are piss-poor and crime is sky-high. We don't need to "rightsize" anything to prevent shit like this from happening, and it happens frequently with different varations on the same.

So, when the police won't take care of criminal matters, it's left to the citizens.

We should then not be surprised or too harshly judgmental when a guy like Tigh Croff eventually does what he does, knowing that a pattern of criminal invasion will not be addressed or interrupted by the police.

I had a neighbor catch a guy trying to steal a car in front of our duplex [[on the Southfield service drive) back in the late 70's with a similar story. He handcuffed him to a tree and we waited on our porch for over an hour and a half for the cops to show up.
The thief was stone drunk and staggered away after we set him free. Cops never showed up.
This was right around the time a bus driver was stabbed to death while taking a break on the service drive late at night. You would have thought there would be faster response with a crime in progress.
Unless you have a gun fight going on or a body in the street they don't seem to be in any hurry.
They also had more man power back in the day too. Go figure.

Tigh Croff was made an "example" by TPTB, that citizens doing the job of the cops & courts would not be tolerated.

If one of those women put a bullet in the back of his head and then dumped his carcass off at 1300 Beaubean, you would see more people take interest in that, then for an auto theft case.

That's a great story. What on earth was that DPD officer thinking? Good job, ladies, keep up the good work? Allowing a potential disaster if the perp revived enough to retaliate and run.

I'd make sure that cop got a promotion doing security detail in a cookie factory out of your state. With the amount of jobless out there, that guy needs a little talk, and a kick in the butt.
