Dear DetroitYES forum members,

We have just completed an initial major software upgrade.

A lot of work for us and some work for you -- getting used to a different look and functions. The good news. You will quickly discover that everything is basically the same.

There are improvements, starting with picture posting -- no more confusing two step process to upload from your computer.

Watch for announcements of further enhancements.

We will be tweaking the installation for a couple of weeks, so expect more changes and thank you in advance for your patience.

It just seems a little bit bright on the eyes. Maybe a slightly darker shade to the colors.

I find it difficult to read the black font of the text in a post on the bright blue background. With the quotes being black on white, they're easier to read. Should be the other way around.

Agree. Really hard to read. Font is small to start with; I often boost up my screen size to 125% or more when I read DY anyway. It's a pain, but these old eyes have seen so much that they don't see so much any more.

I also have no idea what I'm saying.

Eventually we will have alternate skins. Look for the dropdown in the lower left corner of any forum for the skin changer. Right now the only choice is the barebones vBulletin "vB4 Default" skin and the Forum default "Detroit Yes Blue".

Well in the meantime remember that , Ctrl + [+ or -] makes you browser image + larger or - smaller.

I just came in and so far the only problem is that I have to scroll down a whole page every time I hit the Enter key. The title and headers to the page take up one whole screen, below which are the Forum posts. When I hit Reply to Thread to post about that, I popped right back to the top of the header and had to page down for the reply screen.

These old eyes aren't the same either Lowell...the font is awful to read and the blue background should remain white.

I just changed from Blue to Default [[lower left corner) and the problem went away. Also the text in the posts is on white, not blue. Much better!

I'd agree the default is much easier on the eyes. Perhaps invert the colors like some have suggested, or adapt a color system like the old version had, which seemed to work. I know these things require some tweaking. Thanks very much for all the time you put into the forum.

That worked for the color. BUT, after making that change, I lost the column to the left and the forum menu bar across the top.

I lost the column to the left too, and the one on the right, and I was very glad to see them go. I like the full page for the message width. I miss the menu bar at the top. If you click on the FORUM tab at the top left, you do get the menu.

Just did the default and like the visual better. However, I don't like loosing the left hand column and the menu bar. Hopefully Lowell will hear the complaints and make the necessary changes. I liked the old DetroitYes forum much better.

Wow, I did freak out for two seconds until I saw Lowell's message! I like the larger font in the posts. Background seems fine in Mac Snow Leopard OS.

No problems whatsoever here technically. Me? I just got to get used to the new format and I know it'll take a few days to adjust. No biggie though. It looks clean, simple and easy to use so far.

Next to the name of the last poster on the right there is a little blue double arrow button, click that to go to the last post. I am still looking for a link to the last unread post.
