Default Sick Turtle swims to hospital

    http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/S...he-Doctor.html

A loggerhead sea turtle nearly swam to the door step of the Florida Keys Turtle Hospital, the only licensed veterinary facility in the world that solely treats sea turtles. The 73-pound reptile was suffering from a bacterial infection and somehow knew exactly where to go for help -- no Yellow Pages needed.

I wonder if it had been treated there previously? loggerheads are great navigators

    no, it isn't

    logic has NO ideology

I would still put money on the turtle having a previous connection to the clinic

This is no different than animals finding a watering hole hundreds of miles away during a drought.

My first post on the new forum, here we go. hmmmm, do I need to fill out the title above? On to the subject....

We toured the Turtle Hospital in the Keys back in the beginning of February. What a great place! They rescue, rehab and release all types of turtles there. They would have known if this particular turtle had been there before because they tag each one they release.

They also have some "lifers" that will spend the rest of their life at the hospital because they would not survive on their own.

Take a look at the website, it's really fascinating what they can do for these animals.

Page down a little and you'll see Montel. We "adopted" him for a year. The poor guy has gone through a lot, as you can read for yourself. Many have been hit by boat propellers, bitten by sharks, entangled in fishing nets, ingested fishing filament, developed tumors all over their bodies, etc. I'm glad there's a place to care for them.

Compassion is not a characteristic of an effective system of government, or an economy.

says who? oh, i guess it is you. according to
YOUR ideology it isn't, but your ideology can't enjoy the wonders of the natural world unless you can catch that turtle and sell it on the open market as turtle soup, until it and its cousins are gone for good

    "Effective" system...read more carefully Rb.

Socialist collectivist systems are very "compassionate" OR CLAIM TO BE, by they are not effective.

I read perfectly carefully, and you haven't answered the question. who says your way is effective? pretty much just you and a bunch of yahoos who elieve market fundamentalist crap even though your ideas have gone down in flames. and by "effective" what do you mean? effective at what? your system is certainly effective at concentrating wealth and power in the fewest possible hands, reducing the rest of the population to drones. is it effective in providing the greatest benefit to the greatest number of people? clearly not

History answers the question as I have pointed out Rb.

Wealth is not possible under socialism, so redistribution of it is a moot point.

I'm pretty sure turtles don't care about socialism or capitalism.

Just a hunch based on the available evidence.

Sorry, bats, but with your history of reading history through rand-vision goggles while totally overlooking the facts has been well documented. show me 1) what your definition of "effective" is and why it is the only possible valid definition; 2) that there are specific cases in history that back you up; and 3) that such cases are universal and that no system that considers compassion has ever been successful

Much easier to go from the opposite direction and look at the failures of all, so called, compassionate systems. Communism, Socialism, etc.

Would someone explain to me how a thread about a sick turtle turned into more political crap?

Can't we just be amazed and give the poor turtle a whoooohooooo - way to go dude?

    Sheesh
