Default Detroit Times blog: Your opinions please

For the past couple of years I've kept a blog of things I've stumbled across downtown. I jokingly referred to the blog as The Detroit Times, as a nod to my journalism background. The project began simply as a way to let my suburbanite friends know of some of the positive things happening downtown, but as time has passed, I've realized that the majority of the people who visit the blog are people I've never met.

Given the fact that most of you who read this forum are more intimate with Detroit than am I, I'd love to read your feedback, criticisms, comments...

When you get a second, check it out at http://www.fromthekage.blogspot.com/. I'd love to read what you think.

Detroit Times. I loved their Olde English masthead and they had the world's greatest Sunday funnies. We were a Detroit News household as my maternal grandfather had worked there when he was alive [[sold advertising for the rotogravure Sunday insert).

On Monday after school, I would visit the lady across the street. Her family subscribed to the Times and she would save the Times Sunday funnies for my brother and I to take home and read.

My mother would never allow the Free Press in the house.

I like it. Thanks for the relatively recent post about the Detroit Monopoly money, I thought it might have gone under and was thinking of asking on here.

Thanks Fryar. I won a few Detroit bucks last fall at the Blocktoberfest; it was the first I'd learned of it. Burned through the bulk of it at the Grand Trunk!
