If it looked like #11 U of M were outplayed , they were as 2-3 of their key players are currently in Buffalo competing in the World Juniors . That happens yearly at the same time as the GLI . As you Know Team USA won the Gold Medal last year , but it will be tough to repeat this year against a strong Canadian team . Winner of the GLI gets the school banner up in the rafters at the Joe for a year and an automatic invite to the Frozen Four National Championship later this winter . As you remember MSU's now Red Wing Justin Abdelkater scored with just over a minute to play 3-4 years ago to win the National Championship for MSU

Wingnatic: I wish you were right, but winning the GLI is not an automatic invite to the Frozen Four. It is not even an automatic invite to the NCAA field of 16. In the CCHA, they either have to be the regular season champ or else win their own post-season tournament. Most years a third CCHA team gets invited, but that one is not automatic.
