Default Ode to the Plastic Boots

Driving home from a curious reunion at the Beaubien Street Saloon tonight, it dawned on me...where did all those idiotic plastic streetlight boots GO?!

I cannot even remember when I saw the last one.

Did anyone EVER look into that contract to see who made off with that cash?

They laughed to the bank and beyond...

There is still two in use outside my work, crushed, cracked, and filled with trash. It really ads to the new street scape of the nearby Midtown Loop Greenway.

Still on patrol, huh Ray? LOL

I had to start this thread because they just seemed to all disappear...or they crumbled into little plastic pieces and are too small to see.

I put it into my little game of what to watch for around the city now...and thought others might want to play along!

I really WANT this to have been on purpose...a Bing initiative of some sort...but yanno how I am with pie-in-the-sky dreams and imaginations!

It seems it was one of those things they had done, but had no followup maintenance and replacement plan. I recall seeing a number of that had been hit and was impressed by the protective value. The boots got beat up but the pole was undamaged. I am guessing the cars incurred less damage too.

Maybe they worked too good? If you know what I mean.

Perhaps they were simply awnings on the Statler.
