Some years ago there was purportedly FBI statistics that showed that the two days of Christmas saw more homicides than the two days of the New Year holiday. [[I say purportedly because I can't cite where I read or heard this.) More homicides supposedly happen over Christmas due to people being brought together that often have clashing chemistry, whereas during New Year's Eve/Day folks tend to be more with selected company.

Curious if anyone has come across a piece of sociology. It does make for a good topic at happy hour, I've found. What is Detroit looking like so far for '10, around 350 homicides?
