Default Wiki Leaks, Corporations and Diplomacy.

It was recently revealed by a Wiki leak that a US assbassador was not only advocating for Monsanto [[A multi-national corporation) but also calling for retaliation against another country [[France?) because they wouldn't kowtow to a US based, multi-national corporation, and it's demands. Hmmmm, for those of us who've lived a few years and read a few newspapers and books, that in itself wasn't terribly surprising. My questions are: #1. Do you think Wiki leaks have served a noble function? #2. What do you think of a US diplomat doing a multi-national corporation's dirty work? #3. Do you believe the information leaked actually revealed something that anyone capable of reading didn't already suspect, if not know? #4. Was the Wiki leaked information truly damaging to US security interests, or just embarrassing?

#1. Do you think Wiki leaks have served a noble function?
Ten years ago I might have said NO. Now I say Yes, absolutely. Their may be some security issues but overall the sliming governments and corporations have it coming.

#2. What do you think of a US diplomat doing a multi-national corporation's dirty work?
Get a hold of the documentary film The World According to Monsanto - they have bribed, threatened and tricked anyone and everyone to get their seed accepted.

#3. Do you believe the information leaked actually revealed something that anyone capable of reading didn't already suspect, if not know?
Even if it wasn't a big surprise, it is good to have one's suspicions confirmed.

#4. Was the Wiki leaked information truly damaging to US security interests, or just embarrassing?

    Remains to be seen.

As the global warming deniers say, the country is still alive and well. No catastrophe so far.

Ha! But we can see the sky aglow from the fires as they burn in the distance, can't we? I really like capitalism, it's a great tool. There are a whole lot of people doing bad things with that tool right now.

So how do you link those fires that you see with the Wikileaks? I think there are a lot of closer links to corporatists' unbridled greed.

"...Some Columbia University's journalism school faculty wrote a letter to President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, arguing 'in publishing diplomatic cables, WikiLeaks is engaging in journalistic activity protected by the First Amendment, and that as a historical matter, government overreaction to publication of leaked materials in the press has always been more damaging to American democracy then the leaks themselves.'..."

    Nice post. Absolutely accurate.
