Default Had a nice day today

Nice, mild day today, in the upper sixties, but I wandered over to a local casino for a bite to eat and decided to stuff a twenty into a multi-strike machine. Nothing big, playing for pennies, but thank you very much.

Woohoo! Going home with money in your pockets is always a good day!

Congratulations! That was smart to snap the photo as a bonus.

The dirty little secret in gambling is that although even a millionaire must struggle to win consistently, the billionaire's biggest problem is finding a way to lose enough before he has won too much.

Hitting until you bust in Blackjack is an easy way to deliberately lose but beware of those naturals! You can't hit those to a loss. Bet small enough to avoid that.

Ray, you should make me your partner. I'm a very generous partner too. I only want 50% of the winnings, but since I"m so generous you can have 100% of the losses!

It was around noon so I just had a black coffee. Toked the cocktail gal a buck so that was a break-even deal.

Well, the only trouble with that, cp, is that there's a couple dozen guys in line ahead of you with the same or even better deal! But I'll keep you in mind.

Did "toke" mean something different in 1936?

In the casino biz, a toke can mean a tip, or a ticket for a freebie [[like a free drink) from a casino employee.

Short for "token," as in "token of appreciation."

So either way a toke is a good thing to give or receive.

Half the people in Las Vegas live on tokes. Don't ever knock it. And don't be a tightwad, either. Except to cab drivers; they're bandits anyway.

Nope, I take my winnings and go home usually. I keep a slush fund for my gaming. It goes up; it goes down. This year it is up nicely.

We won't talk about some years past.
