    Default Riots in London

Student protest of tuition increases turns violent

I'm somewhat surprised the Royal Family cars don't have bulletproof glass.

I just can't understand why they would be upset? The Prince and his former mistress are riding around in a Rolls Royce and enjoying another day on tax payers dime, while the government is tripling the tuition rate in the name of "Austerity"... I think I would have thrown some paint as well!

Also the article mentioned that the glass "cracked", so they may have some level of security glass in the limo. I think most of the light weight security glasses will crack, but have layers that prevent intrusion. Normal tempered glass [[With the exception of the windshield) would have broken into a million pieces.

Tuition rates anywhere are obscene. Academia better wise up to their overpaid and underworked staffs, because soon ain't no one coming.

From what I've read these hikes will put their tuition at around $14K while a higher end tuition in the US can hit $55K.

All the while Americans sit around with their thumbs up their butts. There should be thousands of people in the streets here in the good ole US of A.

    Beer isn't $10 a can.

    From today's Detroit news:
In the frenzy, some chanted, "Off with their heads!"

Socialism doesn't work, never has, never will. You can only extract so much money from the rich until the well runs dry and the system breaks. California, BROKE hundreds of millions in unfunded pensions, mandates. The list is long. Greece, Spain, Ireland, Italy, on and on and on.Government pension babies can only extract so much from the earners in society.

Try explaining Germany... a socialist country? They have 1/4 of the US population, and until China took over this year... Germany was the worlds leading exporter nation. They weathered the recent recession much better than we did. Their infrastructure is well maintained... their trains run on time... they have healthy thriving cities, they're healthier and live longer than Americans.... and they're generally happier than American's.... in fact they're more successful socialistically than the USA is capitalistically.... answer that one....

They will pay roughly 14 K a year which is a fraction of what Americans pay BUT they do pay a lot more in taxes if I am not mistaken.

The rich are the ones who, built 23 prisons in about that many years costing about $100 million a year each to run.

Support the three strikes law which only fuels prison building and the human storage money making scheme.

    Sorry to get off track.

Put in place the current draconian drug laws which also feed the prison building system and prison unions.

California Republicans as I see it made their bed. The capitalist system isn't working so well either as I see it.

God save us if the Republicans somehow get the Terminator into the White House. No doubt they're thinking on it hard.

You can't explain things to gdog, he's hopeless. If he doesn't get his talking points, he can't discuss.

A couple of British friends were in the middle of it yesterday, they said the cops came ready to smash, and smash they did. Everyone is concentrating on that inbred parasite and his wife being upset in their limo, nobody cares about the widespread head cracking that was going on.

Gotta agree totally with your first point Oldredfordette....

.... as for why the "heir and his mare"... were out and about in this melee, defies explanation...

It's because they are so removed and out of touch. I'd consider moving to England [[or Canada), I have a lot of friends there, but I can't fathom paying for those people.

What pissed me off more than anything was seeing Charlie Gilmour, son of uber-wealthy Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, hanging off the Cenotaph. Now, the Cenotaph is almost like a sacred monument to the Brits and here is this rich kid having a good ol' time acting like a badass. It is hard to see why the kid of some wealthy rock star would be rioting over increased tuition. Fuck that little shit in the ass....oh, he now regrets being an asshole and issued a formal apology.

Yeah man, let's show the world how badass we are by spraypainting memorials to the dead and getting all asshattish.

The figurehead monarchy isn't the problem - the rampant biz execs are.

I'd much rather pay for the pomp and entertainment of a figurehead monarchy than to house for life a piece of shit Burger King employee who punches elderly people to death.

In general I don't like the death penalty due to the possibility of error but if it were restricted to a three independent strikes violent crime situation with limited appeal possibilities I could go for it.

Cali's three strikes law for non-violent crime is just stupid.

Why complain about how much is cost to go to college, and at the same time say how hard a job it is to teach and they need all the money they can get.

They don't get any money from Canada. In fact the dirty little monarchy makes money for England and employees tens of thousands of workers...I guess if they ain't union they are shit right?

Now don't get me wrong, I don't like the monarchy at all but I gotta call out the crap when I see it.

    Patrick,

A peculiar smell emanates from your post.

    oldredfordette,

A lot of folks down my way have the same opinion you do about monarchy and they would easily go for a republican system à la française ou à l'américaine. It is in fact something which french Canada endures and a fairly growing number of anglos tire of also...And Goat claims no money is spent on monarchy in Canada but that is untrue. All provinces have a lieutenant governor with chauffeur, private mansion, a large staff, exhorbitant salaries and budgets. Quebec's ex-lieutenant governor Lise Thibault was charged with fraud last year for excessive and unaccountable expenses... There is also a Governor General appointed for the whole of Canada with budgets that are in excess of 20 million dollars.

What bothers me more about the costs of higher studies in England is the fact that again, bankers and the uppah clawsses are in no way penalized for the big fuck-up they did to the economy. Joe the plummahs are picking up the tab.

Goat, just who is that pictured on your money? And how do they make money for England? Why did her Maj ask for money from the government to cover the cost of the many properties her and her family own if they are such a lucrative game?

Yes, what Detroit really needs is a good riot, just look how all the riots improved the areas where they took place. Start marching people, protest the rich politicians keeping us down.
We can't let people who actually earn money and are successfull keep the money they earn.
Your money is da guvments money, your labor is da guvments labor, how dare you try to keep what you earn. I;m envious and jealous cause I see all the rich people in fancy cars and houses and why can't i got what they got? [[satire)

Have they ever thought about working their way through school and paying for it themselves?
Why are costs going up? Is it the RICH professors who are taking all the money out of the system and raising costs? Or the pension costs for the retired.
The British people want the Monarchy, Tourism brings in biliions. But we all know rich people are evil, especially the rich evil wall street and hollywood democrats who don't pay enough in taxes.
Let's see, great socilists in history who killed millions and millions of people.
Mao Ze-Dong [[China, 1958-61 and 1966-69, Tibet 1949-50)49-78,000,000Jozef Stalin [[USSR, 1932-39)23,000,000 [[the purges plus Ukraine's famine)Adolf Hitler [[Germany, 1939-1945)12,000,000 [[concentration camps and civilians WWII)
    Pol Pot [[Cambodia, 1975-79)1,700,000

Germany, a federal republic, has a conservative banking system, they control immigration, and you have to work to earn your keep, they are a very productive country overall, but it is also very restrictive and controling place to live with da guvment running you life.. Feel free to move there if it such a socialist utopia, i wont stop yall,

California bankrupt, liberal controlled [[arnold is a lib)
Illionois, Bankrupt liberals, New York, bankrupt, liberals on and on and on.

Yes Patrick we do have GG's and Lt. GG's, we also have speakers of the house and many other positions because we are a parliamentary democracy. But this isn't money going to the queen. Your gov't aslo has useless positions that are paid as well but that doesn't mean the president gets that cash.

Oldredfordette, yes the bithc is on some of our bills, so is Sir Laurier, Sir MacDonald and even Terry Fox was on our dollar. But does that mean the money goes to the queen? No. Just like the heirs of Washington don't get any money for Georgie being on your money. According to you they would.

The money the gov't sends to the queen for taxes or upkeep of her properties is far outewighed by the taxes collected from tourists and those employed by the house of Windsor and those employees in the tourist trade.
