Default Abandoned Six Flags New Orleans video

    Src: http://www.gadling.com/2010/11/05/ab...eeping-us-out/

Six Flags New Orleans, which closed as Hurricane Katrina approached in 2005 and has never reopened. The sign outside the park still announces that it's "CLOSED FOR STORM."

The theme park was in New Orleans' Ninth Ward, one of the hardest hit areas during Katrina and the flooding after the storm. Though many of the rides still stand, Six Flags says that saltwater from the flood has corroded them to the point that they cannot be saved

    .

Also, Chippewa Lake Park, one I have visited, about 45 minutes from Cedar Point, in Ohio Chippewa Lake Park was strange. The park had been abandoned for decades, but seemed virtually untouched since the day it abruptly closed. The rides looked ready to go, roller coaster trains were parked on the tracks, the ballroom tables and stage was set, and the food stands had trays and cups stacked, waiting to open the next day. Of course, it would never open again:

Idora Park, also in Ohio, a victim of horrible fires in Youngstown:

Lincoln Amusement Park Ruins... and the idiots who climbed the roller coaster:

And these idiots who ride a closed water slide!?!

Places once so full of happiness and joy, will sadly be forgotten, and joined by many others, given our current situations.

Saw this 6 flags video on a Facebook post today. Kind of eerie. Although, when compared to our local ruins, this was a little underwhelming. Part of me kind of wishes it would stay standing and vacant for another 15-20 years so we can really see some decay. you don't get a chance to study prolonged theme park decay on the magnitude of a 6 flags very often, if ever.
