The News had this photo of the new Ford police vehicle in today's e-issue. The background sure looks like some spots in Detroit, but I can't pin it down. Any guesses?

Behind the Michigan Central Station?
Exactly. On Newark St. off W. Vernor on the other side of the tracks from the station.
Exactly right. The location of the long empty Express terminal and postal shipping offices. IMO they should keep that car posted there 24/7 to deter people from sneaking into the depot from that location.
The new Ford Interceptor [[basically, a modified Taurus) is a nice-looking car. It will be interesting to see how the competition shapes up between the Interceptor and Chevy's new Caprice police package.
Google Maps
Looks like they cut down some weeds for the shot. LOL!
Looks like Ford is down to use some ruin porn a la T3:

That shot from google is from late june/early july 2009 based on the shots of the front of the depot. But seeing how that is city owned property perhaps they did trim some weeds for once. Other wise the Canadian Pacific Railway did it, there's an awful lot of questions over who owns that section of the property.
Yep, you guys nailed it. Since I spent six years working two blocks away at 20th and Vernor, I'm surprised the location didn't jump out at me more than it did. Of course, that was 45+ years back.
I want one.
Something tells me they ain't coming with those rims, which will change the whole look of it. Great lookin cruiser though. Dodge better start beefin' up the Charger if they want to keep playing.
I like those blue & red lights on the side rear view mirrors. Greater visibility at minimum additional cost. Smart design. Lights meant to be seen belong on edges and vertices and other bits that stick out.
Well other than the loading bays, it doesn't look much like it did 45+ years ago. I'm sure that long ago all that terracotta wasn't exposed. There was the office attached to the top of the bays that was torn down sometime in the 1960's as well as a decorative concrete edging. That shot from google is from late june/early july 2009 based on the shots of the front of the depot. In the late 1970's the empty space was used for parking, hence the ramp in the middle of the bays, and also why there's a frame of a car somewhere inside.
lol.....I was wondering how that 89 Escort GT got in there. I don't know if it still is, but on "forgotten detroit" there's a burnt out hulk of the Escort...names "G-ride"
If I remember right....it might have been in the train sheds....which means it's long gone.
Yeah G-ride was in the train sheds. I'll post a photo soon of the ride under the sheds. There's a fork lift and a car

Those are the motor vehicles under the tracks
Mirror mounts are nothing new. They've been around for several years as add-ons in both strobes and LEDs
The other new contender is Carbon Motors which is designed exclusively for police work:

So Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Carbon are all competing to replace the fleet of aging Crown Vics which will no longer be built.
They all look pretty until the first DUI barfs in the back seat.
All we need is some REA trucks backed into each door!
I used to work at 17th and Newark.a half block down
My friend has an ex- police , unmarked jet black Impala.......maybe a 2004 or 5. It has rubber floors for such an event.....even has plugged holes in the floor for drainage after washing it out!
This has come in handy, not only for his wife that can't handle her liquor, but for a car sick 5 year old as well. lol
That that E7 car from Carbon motors, as much as I like their idea of a purpose built cruiser, is damn near the ugliest thing on 4 wheels I've ever layed my eyes on. The integrated push bar is just going to cause more damage to the car than a traditional one.
It's a Taurus SHO basically. Still don't think it can touch the Dodge Charger interceptor. The new Ford Interceptor [[basically, a modified Taurus) is a nice-looking car. It will be interesting to see how the competition shapes up between the Interceptor and Chevy's new Caprice police package.
lol....I always laughed at them using current year Taurus' as the cruisers. Just paint them flat black and POW!....you're in the future!
I'm with Cincinnati_Kid though......although I said the Charger needs to beef up, it still kills everyone else in pretty much every catagory. Even the V-6 Charger was beating out the Ford and Chevy V-8's LOL!
*sigh*.....I miss my Charger
