Work shuts down People Mover

Detroit — The People Mover is not running today as crews work to remove a piece of equipment on the track, city officials said this afternoon.

A crew is currently working on the issue, and they are optimistic the People Mover will get back to operation soon.

"It is not in operation today," city spokesman Dan Lijana said. "There is a mechanical equipment problem they are working around the clock on and [[they) believe it will be up and running tomorrow."

Oh, whew! Crisis averted. The People Mover will be up and running again by tomorrow. The commute by dozens of riders will not be hampered, but for a day.
