In Wayne County 20 years from now Detroit will annex all 5 Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, Hamtramck, Redford TWP. Dearborn Heights, Dearborn, Livonia, Inkster, Garden City and Westland.

Lincoln Park will annex Allen Park, Melvindale, Southgate and Wyandotte.

River Rouge will merge with Ecorse.

Canton TWP, Northville TWP. Plymouth TWP. and Brownstown TWP. will become incorporated cities.

Do any of you even know how annexation works? One municipality cannot annex another without the residents of both voting to approve it. For one city to do it unilaterally would basically amount to an invasion and subjugation of the residents.

Do you honestly believe that the residents of the aforementioned suburbs will vote to become part of Detroit?

That would be awesome! Imagine, cities fighting like it's a world war!

Like the way Adolph Hitler "annexed" Poland in 1939.

Back in the 90's after Chrysler left Highland Park, I wondered in my head what if Detroit had annexed Highland Park and Hamtramck? Hamtramck would become the Hamtramck district of Detroit but Highland Park would be the prize.

HP could have been razed and become the sports and entertainment district for Detroit. The new Highland Park district would have the yet to be built casino/hotels that was approved by the voters. The much talked about replacement for Tiger Stadium could be still built on Woodward but further north. Same with Ford Field. That race track Nederlander wanted to build on the State Fair grounds to keep the Grand Prix; well there's plenty of room in HP. Did I hear that they want to close and tear up Ladbroke DRC in Livonia? Tear that sucker down and build a new track in Detroit's sport and entertainment district. We got three casinos running there why not a horse racetrack. Hell let's race greyhounds there too. We have sports, gambling and entertainment contained in a central location.

Okay, I was dreaming a bit too much but if LA could do it with Hollywood, why not Detroit?

Thinking back to 2000, ten years ago, I see there haven't been a whole lot of changes in the boundaries of the municipalities and townships of Wayne County. I would expect to see the same map ten years hence. Unless something really spectacular happens, there is no benefit to any community joining Detroit.

Lots of advantages for the Detroit city kleptocrats to scarf up more real estate.
