Default Lafayette Park in the NY Times

Life in a Miesian modernist landmark was explored in the NYT yesterday. http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com...ing-with-mies/ A very nice article. It included a cool interactive photo/audio feature that showcased nine residents and their living rooms. Some folks on here probably know some of the people featured in the article. Nice to see a national article that isn't focused on all the bad stuff. No ruin porn or anything. Gee, Detroit has normal people living normal lives. Sorry, shouldn't be so sensitive to the usual kind of coverage. Anyway, it was a very interesting read. Thanks NYT.

The NYT has been on kind of a Detroit love kick lately. Not sure why—maybe they're trying to run counter to the general trend on the off chance that they're the first to pick up on a genuine turnaround—but it's nice.

That was great to see! Two of my bosses lived in the co-op, two different units. The relationship of indoors to outdoors is my favorite part.

Get some stores in that strip mall then residents would not have to leave their neighborhood for the basic amenities

There were a lot of businesses there that were succesful for decades. The owner forced them out and what he's brought in hasn't been able to last. Bad move on his part.

That is a great blog, and I really liked the interactive photo gallery. I'll be interested to see further projects from Placement.
