    Default Loudmouths and leaders

    http://snowymonkey.blogspot.com/2009...blowhards.html
"...a study conducted by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology ... concluded that leadership is very often just 'loudership' - People are likelier to be perceived as leaders if they offer more answers, even if those answers are wrong. Some excerpts from the article:

"'Psychologists know one way to become a leader is simply to act like one. Speak up, speak well and offer lots of ideas, and people begin to do what you say.'.."

This goes along with a recent international test of students on math and science and a subsequent test of confidence. U.S. students scored highest in confidence even though they did poorly on the math and science tests.

I wish bloggers would be more diligent about providing links to the articles they cite.

"snowymonkey" seems to be referring to Time's Competence: Is Your Boss Faking It?.

"In the Oct. 18 issue of The New Yorker, historian Sean Wilentz examines 'how extremist ideas held at bay for decades inside the Republican Party have exploded anew — and why, this time, party leaders have done virtually nothing to challenge those ideas, and a great deal to abet them....'"

Funny, when you mention loudmouth, Bernero comes to mind.

At least he has some experience in gov. to base his comments on. There are a lot of loud mouths who are just walking-talking examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Bill Maher skewers some of the craziest candidates.
