    Default Fastest Demolitions in Town!?

Well ok, the city certainly got around to demolishing these houses fast! What's up with that? Talk about sudden city efficiency in action....

Detroit to demolish 20 houses gutted in Tuesday's blazes

They're even getting around to tearing down the house Matthew Landry was killed in:

The Landry home was one of the first 1,000 scheduled for demolition, but was put on hold when the man's family found evidence of the crime [[that the police couldn't find). It led to a whole crime scene investigation that concluded when the trial ended.

I'm curious as to how the recently burned houses moved up so fast on the "demo" schedule. Though the fact that many were side by side may have been a factor....

The fastest demolition in town still has to be the Chene House [[Little Harry's Restaurant).... it was standing on a Sunday morning... and gone by the end of the day....

There was some speculation in the Freep article that they were bulldozed to hide evidence. Would the evidence have hurt DTE? Or showed proof of arson? Who knows.

Another possible explanation is the size of the job. Big jobs usually mean bigger profits and profit margins. Maybe that's why somebody jumped at the chance to do it right away?

The city maintains two lists of structures to be demolished: the Dangerous Buildings Demo list, and the Emergency Demolition list. In theory, buildings go on the emergency list if they are seriously torched or really structurally unsafe. They are spread all along the city, and in theory they are to have priority over the other "Dangerous Buildings" list structures. The Dangerous buildings are also spread across the city but are demolished in a more focused cluster by cluster way. These are typically buildings that are just empty, blighted, or have minimal fire damage.

Theoretically, emergencies should come down the fastest. However, I can think of a couple structures offhand that are/were emergency demos last fall which are still standing today..... The demolition process and how it's carried out are a weird weird weird weird situation in the city.
