    Default Is the Andrew Shirvell anti-gay campaign getting much coverage...

    ...in SE Mich? I caught the story of about the assistant Mich Attorney General on CNN the past two nights and went "Phoo-wee!" Was Andrew Shivrell appointed by AG Mike Cox? Shivrell is said to be a protected by civil service. But if Cox appointed him, couldn't he ask for his resignation without cause? See this awful story at CNN.com

    Cox thinks his actions are protected by the First Amendment, since he is off duty at the time. Presumably he has taken the man's work assignment into consideration, in case he is jeopardizing his ability to do his job.

    ^^ I haven't seen anything.


    First; Hate speech is never protected. Neither is slander.

    Second; A person employed in that capacity has to uphold personal standards in accordance to those of the office.
