Default In praise of the carburetor / Detroit...

Anybody read this guy's book; Shop Class as Soulcraft.

Just heard about him listening to a good review of his book on french CBC. The french translation is
L'éloge du carburateur; hence the title of my post.

Matthew B Crawford holds a doctorate from U of Chicago and after working for a Washington Think Tank for a whole six months, whew!!! Quit and started a motorcycle repair shop. He apparently disparages the notion that only intellectual, white collar jobs and education matter. He praises handiwork and goes on about the need for craft and trade schools... The closing of hundreds of trade and tech schools drives him nuts. Ring a bell anyone?

    I just DL'd the book.

I'm surprised that they are just now reviewing the book since it came out in '09.

From what I've glossed over so far, it looks like an interesting read.

Looks like another book to read. I saw that last year and have been meaning to pick up a copy.
