Yep, IMO it is not surprising that both sides employ some distortion to push agendas and promote ideas. Why would that be exclusive only to the repubs? Neat and 'tidy' world were that true. Not. Which why I set aside party loyalty and try to look thru to the policy [[not just the politics) and outcomes.

Republican lies, Democrat lies, blah blah blah. Neither party is working in the people's best interest. Saying the Republicans lie, so let's usher in the Democrats, is like saying Stalin is the answer to Hitler. Unfortunately, the Democrat & Republican parties have such a stranglehold on how elections are run, no other party stands a chance. That's why the liberty candidates chose to run under the Republican moniker, even though they don't necessarily agree with them or the neocons. They wouldn't have stood a chance if they ran under the Libertarian or Constitution Party. That's why Ron Paul runs as a Republican. Very predictably, of course, the establishment warmonger big spending Republicans are trying to hijack the liberty message, let's hope the people see through it and support the truly liberty minded Republicans. And let's also hope that the liberty candidates who won can shake up the establishment enough and bring REAL change. I guess more liberty candidates are the answer if they face too much resistance from the establishment Democrats and Republicans who got this country so F'd up and in the condition it's in right now and plan on doing so unless they are stopped..

16 of the Dumbest Things Americans Believe -- And the Right-Wing Lies Behind Them
Just as the election season began heating up earlier this year, Newsweek published a list of “Dumb Things Americans Believe.” While some of them are garden-variety lunacy, a surprising number are lies that were fed to Americans by our leaders on the far-Right.

RE: THE 15 Biggest Lies...

Why did the Washington Post interview that nutty militiaman Vanderboegh? I can't believe there wasn't enough real news to fill their pages. This is what happens when tabloid hucksters like Murdoch put their screed in competition with real news. But it's also an example that we are living in an idiocracy today where people spend money on such crap. Charlie Pierce talks about the rise of the crackpots from the fringes to the mainstream in his book "Idiot America".

Another Big Lie is that businesses do it better. That's true only if you include corruption and screwing the average person.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp...nguage=printer
"...
But [Neil] Bush was able to help the men who helped him. In 1985 he joined the board of Silverado Savings and Loan, which had already lent millions to Walters and Good. Over the next three years, Silverado lent an additional $106 million to Walters and $35 million to Good, although the two men's real estate empires were collapsing.
Good used some of that money to buy JNB, although it was still losing money. He raised Bush's salary to $120,000 and awarded him a bonus of $22,000. He also hired Bush as a director of one of his companies, at a salary of $100,000.
Neither Good nor Walters ever repaid a nickel of their Silverado loans, and in 1988 Silverado went belly up, leaving U.S. taxpayers holding the bag for $1.3 billion in debts.."

Another lie: Social Security is going under
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/37755.html
"...Most doomsayers who point to declining Social Security revenues intentionally ignore some basic facts.
They ignore that Social Security is fiscally responsible. By law, it cannot spend money that it doesn’t have. And the Social Security Trust Fund now has a $2.5 trillion surplus that can help pay out benefits for years to come.

Without any change, Social Security could cover three-quarters of benefits until 2083 — when people born today will be 73..

The real crisis isn’t Social Security; it’s retirement security. Pensions and household assets lost $7.4 trillion between the stock market’s softening in October 2007 and its nadir in October 2008. Both traditional pensions and defined contribution plans like 401[[k)’s shed nearly half their value during that time.
That’s why American retirees need Social Security now more than ever to ensure a stable source of retirement income..."

from Health Care for America NOW:

The repeal-monger hypocrisy continues. On the campaign trail, Congressman-elect Andy Harris railed against "government take-over" of health care and then the very first thing he did upon coming to Capitol Hill for freshman orientation was to ask for his. And when Harris was told he had to wait for his tax payer-sponsored health care, he did what you'd expect all conservative Republicans who ran against health care to do: he got cranky.1

The repeal-mongers want to let insurance companies deny people coverage due to pre-existing conditions and drop people when they get sick. They want to get rid of the small-business tax credit and repeal measures to cut down waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare.

Sen. Jon Kyl[R- AZ] has gone against President Obama, US military leaders and National Security Officials to reject Senate consideration of the New START treaty in the current session of Congress.
As a leading conservative, Republican Whip Kyl is willing to risk the security of the United States in order to deny President Obama any success in foreign policy..."

Refuting the lies about health care.
http://www.speaker.gov/blog/?p=2215
For instance:
MYTH: “The IRS may need to hire as many as 16,500 additional employees to investigate and collect billions in new taxes.”
FACT: This number is a fabrication — and the fact is that any new IRS employees would be hired to help deliver the more than $500 billion in tax relief provided under this bill: ensuring that individuals and businesses are aware of the tax incentives and how to claim them, answering taxpayer calls, building online self-help tools, and performing other outreach services.
Health insurance reform provides the largest middle-class tax cut for health care in American history — and the IRS makes it easy for Americans who qualify for help by paying a significant portion of their premiums up front — so they never have to pay the full bill.
The claim that IRS agents would be dispatched to quiz Americans citizens on the intricacies of their health plan is FALSE. Insurance companies will automatically report health care coverage that they provide to both taxpayers and the IRS.

The usual Republican crapola.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101219/...lear_usa_start
Republican Senators concerned about the large disparity in tactical, short-range nuclear weapons between Russia and the United States rallied behind a treaty-killing amendment on Sunday that would have inserted a reference to the issue in the preamble of the accord. The amendment was defeated 60-32.
Democratic Senator Robert Casey said members of both parties were concerned about Russian tactical nuclear weapons but there was a simple reason the New START nuclear treaty did not address them -- because it is an agreement dealing with strategic, or long-range, atomic arms.

The GOP Is Spreading a Big Fat Lie About the Economy -- We Need Obama to Put an End to It
Republicans are telling Americans a Big Lie, and Obama and the Democrats are letting them. The Big Lie is our economic problems are due to a government that’s too large, and therefore the solution is to shrink it.

The truth is our economic problems stem from the biggest concentration of income and wealth at the top since 1928, combined with stagnant incomes for most of the rest of us. The result: Americans no longer have the purchasing power to keep the economy going at full capacity. Since the debt bubble burst, most Americans have had to reduce their spending; they need to repay their debts, can’t borrow as before, and must save for retirement....

And now a moment of levity. Stephen Colbert recently excused Ann Wagner for thinking an RNC chair candidate was talking about a bar when he mentioned the Reagan Diaries. Colbert said there is a DC watering hole called the Reagan Diaries where the most popular drink is called "the trickle down". The bartender keeps giving your drink to the rich guy next to you until he finally vomits into your glass.

Since the Republicans are in the house, they would do anything by any means necessarily to appeal Obamacare [[ It's not going to happen) Appealing Obamacare will not pass the Democratic Senate nor it would go into President Obama's Oval Office Desk.

Also I say HELL NO to raising the debt ceiling to over 4 trillion dollars. It's would be a deficit that would never end. Republicans, stop your whining and favoring corporate lobbies and work to fix America from global fear.

Another Republican lie: Reagan didn't raise taxes

http://www.pensitoreview.com/2010/07...taxes-7-times/
"... let’s just disengage ourselves from the myth that Ronald Reagan never raised taxes. He did. And here are four big ones. So I hope this will clear the air for some of the groups today. In 1982, the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act, that rolled back about a third of his ‘81 tax cuts, raised corporate tax rates, and to a lesser extent income tax rates. Raised taxes by almost 1 percent of GDP, which at that time was the largest percentage in peacetime increase ever.
[The] 1982 gas tax increase. [The] 1983 Greenspan commission — we know so well; [fellow commission member Alice Rivlin] remembers — we all … raised payroll taxes for lower and middle income households to higher than they were before Reagan’s ‘81 tax cuts. Then there was the 1984 deficit reduction tax.
Those are the big four. Then there was the Railroad Retirement Revenue Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget of ‘85… ‘85…’87 Continuing Resolution, Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of ‘87, that was $8.6 billion
So there were a lot of them. Just thought I’d throw that in..."[Sen. Alan Simpson quote]

And the repeal healthcare business is just a song and dance for their crazier constituents and an enormous waste of the House's "valuable time".

Another lie: most illegal immigrants commit crimes in the U.S.
http://articles.cnn.com/2010-04-29/j...aw?_s=PM:CRIME
"...According to the nonpartisan Immigration Policy Institute, proponents of the bill 'overlook two salient points: Crime rates have already been falling in Arizona for years despite the presence of unauthorized immigrants, and a century's worth of research has demonstrated that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or be behind bars than the native-born.'..."
