Default Location Suggestions for s Superhero Photoshoot?

I am looking for suggestions for good places in/around Detroit for a photoshoot. The model will be dressed as a superhero from my comic book, so we are looking for some fun ideas. The superhero is a woman [[Finola) who can fly and has powers based around wind. Her additude is that of a bratty teenager. Photos would be used for posters or something to help promote my comic book series at an upcoming comic book convention.

We are also still looking for a cheap photographer to take the photos. Photos would be used for posters or something to help promote my comic book series at an upcoming comic book convention. Please reply with your rates. I would like to point out that I don't have a lot of money [[comic business isn't lucrative), so this gig might be better suited for someone who is just looking for a really fun project to help grow their portfolio.

haha... That thought did cross my mind! However, I don't think my model would be comfortable posing in a mall in a skintight costume with lots of people around.

Note that malls are only semi-public places. This means you can be escorted off of the premises if you do anything that management does not like. Your best bet would be to find somewhere in the public realm. If you don't want others around this would limit your choices of places or times you can shoot.

Yes, I realize that. If we were to do something like that, I would be sure to get the proper clearance first.

Newbaby, if you are really looking for suggestions you need to think through your concept and give some details on what you are trying to accomplish.

For example, from your posts one could assume you are looking for a George Jetson future setting, or a post-nuclear blast location or maybe a snotty suburban ranch. It isn't clear what you want.

Gothic despair? Urban chic? Country comfort? You say she gets her power from the wind, does that mean you need a rooftop vantage overlook?

there are any number of suggestions you could get, and most of them could be a complete waste of time for all concerned.

    Details, details, details ...

I am SO sorry gnome. The last thing I would ever want to do is waste the time of a pretentious artist on an open forum.

Since I wasn't completely clear when I was asking for "suggestions" and "ideas", I will try again:
I need some suggestions and ideas for possible locations for a fun superhero-themed photoshoot in/around Detroit, as I don't have any good ideas and would like to pick the mind of others.

Thanks n7hn. Thinking through this a little, it would be nice if a theme could be developed that incorporates her being a teenager and a superhero. That's why I think DetroitPlanner's mall idea is pretty good.

Gnome was trying to help and you insult him. Is your next Superhero called "Insult Man"?

If you could send me some pictures of the model in the skin tight suit, I might be able to help. I just need some, uh, inspiration.

I see where your young superhero gets her bratty attitude from. I sincerely tried to help you by giving you some suggestions on how to reframe your question. Better information reveals better results, but you were kind enough to let us know that "...you don't have any good ideas...".

Newbaby, there a lot of very smart people here, people who are very giving of their time and knowledge, it is only fair to not waste their time. By asking an open-ended question, you are asking hundreds of people to set their lives down and climb into your singular mindset. You expect them to fully engage your whims just because you asked.

I was certainly willing to provide you with dozens of free and workable locations, but your inappropriate response leaves me cool to that notion. Good luck with finding someone who wants to partner with you for free.

I do not expect anything from anyone on these forums and thus, greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond to my inquiry without being all high and mighty about it. Nobody is forcing anyone to read my post, let alone respond to it.

Today would have been a good day to do this. It's been amazingly windy today!

    Her head is disproportionately small.

Very true. Fortunately enough, this image was created by a different artist than what was used for our series and was basically just to help with the costume design.

Nobody was being "high and mighty". You made that up.

Nobody is forcing you to insult the people trying to help you either, but you insult them anyway.

    Hmmmm.
I imagine that ideally, it would be good to have a picture taken somewhere that captures the idea of wind. She could be standing by a window with some curtains that are billowing out. She is a teenage girl, so maybe it could be her own room, but made dramatic somehow. Or maybe she is standing somewhere where she has just used her wind powers by a window. Or maybe she could be in the "U" of a large building making baby tornadoes. Little whirlpools of dust and junk tend to form in those areas. Or maybe she is standing by a large broken window, or a downed tree branch, or a downed power line. Or have her looking angry with an angry skyline behind her. Or standing on the roof of a building communing with the wind.

Now, Captain Insult, you might say, those thoughts do nothing to anwer your original question, because you were asking for particular places, but, if some general scenarios were scetched in, it might give people ideas for particular places.

Another windy place is anyplace by the Detroit River, say, weeping willows in Ford Park [[by the Pointes).

I say photo her in a "BANKSY hole" and make her fend off scrappers.....

On a side note, isnt her costume a bit phalic? Or have I had too many classes at CCS?

Have her stand by any house that looks blown away or partically destroyed, have her bending over to break wind. Another salvo on the way!

Or she could break wind and fly, in which case we would need aerial shots. Maybe she flys by short hops, so these would be no more than tree top level?

Maybe have her eating a can of beans before an altercation, like Popeye eating spinach?

If there was a bean factory in Detroit, it could be used like Superman's Fortress of Solitude.

Beano or similiar products could be used like Krptonite. So a pharmacy counter stacked with any anti-gas product could be used as the evil person's lair. Maybe an exciting scene could be shot there.

Instead of the usual trite mad scientist, you could have the Evil Pharmacist trying to take away everyone's gas.
