Default Best Spa in the city?

Ok, I know that several spas have opened up downtown recently, and I am wondering if any of you have opinions on which one is best [[I'm looking for a gift here...)

    The ones I know of
    - Woodhouse Day Spa
    - Spa 19 at the Book Cadillac
    - MGM
    - MotorCity Casino

Any thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated - I know nothing about this kind of stuff

    Hands down, this place: http://www.detroitblog.org/?p=661

You can have a nice relaxing schvitz and then join the frolicking swingers for some steamy sex.

I went to the DeTour Spa [[?) at the Motor City Casino. Spa staff was amazing. Got a pedicure & facial. With any service, they give you full access to the dry sauna, steam room [[which was out of order on my visit), and whirlpool. It's a beautiful facility, totally serene, and nothing like the hustle and bustle of the casino. Gorgeous. Relaxing. Friendly and not snooty.

Woodhouse Spa: I have never been. However, I heard from a friend that their services are mediocre and the prices on the medium to higher end. Do your own research, because I don't treat myself to spa services often enough to know how to compare pricing.

I have not been to the others you mentioned, but if anyone's looking for a spa outside of Detroit, Edwin Paul Spa in GP gets astronomical marks from me.

You haven't seen how expensive spa prices can be unless you've been out to the Left Coast, where I live.

When we did a stay at the Book Caddy downtown early this year, I treated my significant other to a couple treatments at the Woodhouse Day Spa. If you do a bit of digging on their website [[it appears to be part of a franchise chain), you can dig up some promotional offers. It's a nice little facility with friendly staffers. My only criticism of it was that there are no pools there.

Supposedly THE Spa to be at, which I haven't witnessed yet, is the massive one over at MGM Grand. If I ever decide to spend a night or two there, we'll find out.

Immerse spa at the MGM Hands down. all day access to all amenities steam room dry sauna salt water pool-poolside food service-very attentive staff. Took BF for a birthday surprise. Wish we had spent more time there. Go for an early massage and just lounge for the rest of the day. unbelievably relaxing. a titch pricey but damn is it worth it.

Hmmm. Thanks for the MGM reviews. I'll be checking that out next time I have too much money on my hands that I won't know what to do with
