Default What do you do for a living?

Perhaps it's none of my business, but since day one on this forum, I've always wondered what kind of people use this site.

Are you a professional? A student? Neither?

    I'm just curious.

    I'll start.

I am a intern [[for one more week, I move into a new position after that) at Communicore Visual Communications in Birmingham.

    K. Now YOU go!

I'm an ornithologist -- I run the Rouge River Bird Observatory at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I first started on this list when I was working on a breeding bird project and looking for folks who knew of locations that had nesting Ring-necked Pheasants!

    Default What I do

At the moment I'm on a hiatus from the University of Kentucky. My husband has stage 2 bladder cancer [[next Friday they are removing the bladder and a few other parts). Up until now I've been a Jill of all trades. I worked at AT & T in Plymouth, Michigan as a LD/OVS operator. Prior to that I was in the insurance industry as a commercial property and package underwriter in the Ren Cen. After the AT and T job, I did an about face and went to work at a facility for mentally ill patients and loved it. I am now in my second year of psychologist/sociology training while I am a part time administrator for a residental care facility. Actually, I would prefer psychiatric nursing, but I have 3 fusions in my cervical spine and would not be able to do parts of the physical training that is in the basic nursing. Oh, well, that's what happens when you get old and still keep wanting to do something different!

I teach classes at University, but you might have gathered that from my handle.

I do a lot of other things as well, but that's the one I get paid for. I'd be quite well off if I could figure out how to get paid for the other shit.

I went through a cancer scare myself last summer, the result of which is that I "probably don't" have prostate cancer, as the doctors put it. We paid a damned lot of money to get to "probably don't". So Linda, you and your family are in my family's prayers as well. The testing to discover that I probably don't have cancer was barbaric enough; I can't imagine what actually having it is like, though I'll probably know someday.

I fix up old houses, mostly south of 8 mile, some historic, some otherwise, but don't limit myself. I'm slammed with work right now, and couldn't be more pleased.
