    Default Hoover Dam bypass bridge

Took a stroll down to Hoover Dam yesterday to see how the new by-pass bridge is coming along. It's pretty impressive; this photo doesn't begin to show the massiveness behind it. I suppose the sports books in Vegas will soon post a line on whether the first person to pull a Brodie off of it will be male or female.....

Will they close the current bridge across the dam when this is done?

There has been no mention of that, Downriviera, but trucks, busses, and trailers have been banned from crossing since just after 9/11. They have to make the Colorado River crossing down by Laughlin/Bullhead City, about a 30 mile detour.

I'm sure he dam will still welcome tourists as it does now.

I took the hard hat tour at the dam, very impressive. We got to walk through the tunnels inside the dam. I think they discontinued the hard hat tour after 9/11.

    Ray:
How is the level of Lake Mead?
I have been amazed at how it is markedly lower each time I visit....but haven't been there the last two years.

Bugs explains at 7:10 why Steve Brody[sic] jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge.

The tours have resumed but are down this weekend for elevator maintenance.

One place I'd love to see again and this time not sick with the flu. Not a good feeling getting sick on the Dam.

How long until we start hearing about sending Great Lakes water to the southwest again?

Gov Jenny is probably digging a trench right now .

I think nevada gave up on on the great lakes idea, they have been trying to get more
of the colorado river flow, in the last few years.

Lake Mead is down nearly 90 feet from it's maximum height of 1200 feet above sea level. Photo taken Wednesday shows how the islands are growing.

In 1983 I was there when it was at its highest level in 40 years, with the water going over both spillways. That was an amazing sight.

My solution to the problem is to simply blow up the Glen Canyon Dam. [[Oh...Homestead Security....I'm only kidding!!! )

    Jeeez, Ray!
First, photos in a casino. Now, talking about destroying dams....

Yeah, I had a picnic with the kids and grandchild at a remote spot along Lake Mead several years ago. A year later, we returned. The shore had moved fifty or sixty feet out!
