Default How did the Dodge bequest of the Rose Terrace music room end up at the Getty?

Anna Dodge left one million dollars to maintain her bequest. When did the de-acquistion occur and what was the money used for? How much did the Getty pay for it? I haven't lived in Detroit for thirty years but visited the DIA this summer and noticed the music room had vanished. I didn't think it was that easy for museums to sell off their bequested collections. BTW the new marble is ghastly next to the original building. How did THAT happen?

Are you certain it is at the Getty? Are you sure it was put in storage or moved to another part of the DIA?

There are many DY posters who are more knowledgeable, but I believe that the room and the chandeliers were sold by the DIA to raise money for the expansion.

It is not uncommon for a museum to do this to raise money.
