    Default Wedding Venues in Detroit

I'm trying to provide a friend with a list of wedding venues in the city. I know there was a thread some time ago about wedding venues in Detroit, but I cannot find it. Can anyone locate this thread for me?

Detroit wedding venue suggestions are welcome as well.

I've known people who have had weddings on Belle Isle, though I've never attended one.

I've also been to a wedding reception at the Rooster Tail, which was really classy, but likely very expensive.

The Detroit Public Library has hosted weddings in the past.

The Colony Club over on Park Ave. [[owned by Chuck Forbes) is a great place for a wedding [[both service and reception). The magnificent 2 story tall Louis XV style ballroom makes a magnificent setting for both. See attached...

The Masonic Temple makes a wonderful setting for a wedding. There is an incredible medieval chapel for the ceremony and two beautiful ballrooms to choose from for the reception. There is also plenty of parking available.

For an interesting venue [[with a gorgeous view of The Cadillac Place) and Fisher building, try the first Ford Motor Company Plant on Piquette Avenue.

Here's an old thread that has links to other old threads. These are on the old forum.

Depending on the size of the party, I've attended some very nice quieter smaller affairs at the Fisher Mansion and the Scarab Club. They were all one stop shopping deals where the ceremonies happened there and the reception was just a few steps away.

Any of the nice hotels downtown have amazing ballrooms, Book Cadillac, etc... We are getting married next month at the Jefferson Ave Presbyterian Church, the reception is at Grosse Pointe War Memorial, not in Detroit, but the only place nice enough that was within our budget.

TheKnot.com has lists and lists. TheKnot.com is an amazing guide to getting married in the Detroit area, really. They print a magazine, too. Metro Detroit Bride magazine [[done by Hour Detroit) has a grid in the back that gives reception locations, details on catering style, prices and contact info.

It really depends on budget and space. The smaller the guest list, the more fantastic options you have. Here are some really good places:

    - Detroit Boat Museum [[it's not called that, but close) on Belle Isle. They have a beatutiful stained glass wall inside.
    - Masonic Temple
    - The Whitney
    - DIA
    - MGM Grand Casino
    - All the other places people mentioned, especially in the other thread.

I'm getting married at the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Belle Isle in just a few weeks!

We got hitched at the Belle Isle casino bldg. in Oct. 2002. The ceremony was outdoors with Scott Fountain in the Background. It was warm and the fountain was still running. It was GREAT! So much fun I wanted to come back the next weekend and do it all again!

Infinity and Ovation Charter Yachts are the best -- they dock at three Detroit locations [[GM Wintergarden, Rivard Plaza and Stroh Riverplace). Rated the best wedding venue by clickondetroit.com and HOUR magazine.
