DT, it would be nice if DPS schools offered neighborhood recycling services, where people in the community could drop off newspapers, plastic containers, etc. while dropping off or picking up their kids from school. What do you think about the feasibility of such a venture? I'm sure there's a grant that could be written and it might even create a few jobs...

Check out the link. What you are describing is what we are applying for.... You just have to vote every day this month, and tell all of your friends to do the same.... This grant will create a sustainable recycling program in Detroit at the Detroit Public schools that will use the proceeds to pay for environmental education in the schools....
