That's like washingmachine torture. It's the machine equivalent of tying firecrackers to a dog.

There's a fun toy you can make based on the eccentric weight.

You take an opaque cylindrical can and attach a rubber band from the center of the top to the center of the base. Attach a weight to the middle of the rubber band.

Place it on the table and wind it up by sliding it vigorously in a circular motion. When released it dances around as it contains something alive. Works best with kids just a little bit too young to figure out how it works. They'll be fascinated with it for hours.
