Just thought I'd share some good press from today's NY Times....

Ponderosa Stomp...does a day of Detroitology under the auspices of Lincoln Center Out of Doors."

This event features a great line-up. Bluesman Eddie Kirkland who recorded with John Lee Hooker in the 50's opens the show. Syder Turner, Melvin Davis, Dennis Coffey, and Motown's The Velvelettes are all on the show as well. The singers will be backed by Detroit's rock n soul preservationists, The Party Stompers. Later in the evening, Death, Mitch Ryder, The Gories and ? and the Mysterians will close the show. Whew, Detroitology is right!

Impressive turnout and much love for the sounds of Detroit here Saturday. The show even garnered a positive NY Times review today though it was totally unfair to the Party Stompers who for over two hours did a solid job backing up the diverse lineup of Detroit blues, soul, and Motown artists. Any case, glad to see the city's music heritage promoted in NYC--
