Default Danny Glover inside Highland Park's McGregor Library

A friend passed along this video link of an Al Jazeera interview. I appreciated most for the glimpse inside the long shuttered library. The interview got boring and did not address HP/Detroit that much.

Shouldn't this be in Non-Detroit, then?

I don't have time to watch the entire interview right now, but I think it's ironic that the OP thinks it "got boring" since the basis of the opening question was what impact does the US Social Forum have on places like the MacGregor Library.

He should have just stuck to ruin porn, giving us a tour of the building, and left the hard questions at his office.

I would have thought that Glover would have actually read something about the library. It was built in the roaring twenties, 1926 to be exact, but Henry Ford did not have anything to do with it. The McGregor family donated the land, on which they ran a home for homeless children. The city floated a bond for $500K in 1924 to build the library. It was constructed in 1926 for about $460K. Remarkable how such a government building came in under budget - a different time and different era.

Does anyone have any news on the effort to fundraise for the rehab of this building?

I thought I heard that a spin-off of Glover-made movie was that some funding was being created, perhaps via the producers, for reopening McGregor. It is fenced now.
