    Default I'm 63 & I'm tired

I like to post things I find interesting, some I agree with and some not all that much. I enjoy some of the responses, even if I don't agree.

    Im 63 & I'm tired

Robert A. Hall is the actor who plays the coroner on CSI if you watch that show.
This should be required reading for every man, woman and child in the United States of America .

    "I'm 63 and I’m Tired"
    by Robert A. Hall

I'm 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I'm tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor;" of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers;" of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery;" of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I'm tired of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, "Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military.... Those are the citizens we need.

I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter.

And I'm tired of right-wing bullshit. Man up and help create society. Or else go find a cave somewhere and eat bear meat.

Just as a point of clarification, Robert A. Hall was a Massachusetts' state senator, not the actor from CSI. That's Robert David Hall

Do you mean an "entitlement" society? Where basically nobody has to do anything and somebody will take care of them? One where you can abuse yourself totally and somebody has to pay your way? Or the one where people all work hard, take responsibility for their actions, live closer to God, don't expect handouts, charity is motivated by love and not govt. force. FREE LOVE[[don't worry about babies,STD's,etc)LEGALIZE DRUGS[[somebody take care of me)NO BORDERS[[we will become just as poor as those other countries)NO GOD[[who needs absolutes anyway)

How about you take care of your own morality, and let me take care of mine?

I'M TIRED. I'm tired of people speaking for Jesus. I'm tired of lazy bastards telling me to work harder. I'm tired of people whining for tax cuts they didn't earn. I'm tired of people who don't take care of themselves or their fellow man. I'm tired of people finding any excuse to not take care of their responsibilities as part of this society. I'm tired of people telling me to be scared. I'm tired of people insinuating that an enlightened, educated, and cultured life is wrong.

And I'm tired of you being more worried about me than you are your damned self.

I've seen that same article several times with the author supposedly being George Carlin, Andy Rooney, and Ben Stein. That leads me to conclude it was written by some right wing hack sitting behind a computer, and inserting whosoever name comes to mind.

Besides, the rant contains so many lies and distortions that it looses any credibility.

god, how many ways i could rip this apart. , i'll stick with the borders issue -- we are in the process of Brazilification, the logical end result of right-wing economics. We will have a state where the feudal lords will be the corporate CEOs and we will have to take whatever dregs they chose to toss our way. Once that happens, borders will no longer be the issue. It cracks me up that the group that is screaming loudest for more secure borders is the same group that supports the sort of laissez-fair capitalism that will result in borders becoming meaningless

I'm tired of people that twist his words and make up scripture to support their exclusionary club, all while they damn their brethren.

Heretics, heathens, and blasphemers are not my brethren, but that's neither here nor there.

But again...maybe you should start worrying a bit more about yourself, and a bit less with the butting your nose into the lives of others.

Maybe you shouldn't sit on internet forums blatting nonsense about others that don't believe the way you do, and how wrong they are. Like Catholicism IS Christianity. You can't say stupid things like that and not expect some sort of rebuttal from those of us who know how wrong you are.

Hippee communes failed because some people stopped pulling thier weight and others had to pick up thier slack. After a while, there were too many slackers and not enough contributors. Socialist utopia only works when everyone contributes.

Better boot your kids out onto the street and make 'em get three jobs. I'm sure you're tired of them sponging off all your hard work, what with their food, and water, and clothes and such.

A little tough love is all you need to motivate 'em!

Did I miss where this thread is about hippie communes, or is this just another pointless right wing rant?

    Couple of things.

This is an actual article [[albeit condensed). A link to read the entire thing is here.

Like was pointed out above, this was written by a former US Marine, and NOT by the CSI actor.

It wasn't written by several people, just one.

I'm 61, and I'm tired of silly, inane threads like this one, and nominate it for the "Best Thread To Avoid" award on the DYes Forum.
So many threads, so little time!

    Peace, to all!

Refer to the first post, not to mine. There are some valid points in post 1, but it is propaganda at this stage, because everything in that post is pretty much right wing talking points.

I'm 72 and not only am I tired, I'm pissed off.

It appears to me that most people on this forum consider "right wing" and "common sense" to be analogous. It ought to be a condition precedent to posting on here that the poster has at least an ounce of the latter. One can only wish. [[Of course some of these threads, such as this one, would not be as laughable as they are.)

I am tired of those who claim to have a religious value system that goes against the sermon on the mount...who see others as less and practice Sunday or Friday or Saturday prayers but then discriminate against their neighbors the rest of the week... ...those who trip over the beggars on the way into church and pass laws against the same people on Monday...

yes common sense is great only if it is followed by common decency... Yes holding people accountable also means what have you done for your neighbor to increase their ability to be accountable...[[education, environmental justice and equal opportunity)....yes I am tired of those who claim to represent Christian values practicing anything but...

do you all realize that God shows mercy as one of his greatest loves..and to love yourself is the first step of loving others which will draw you closer to God's Love for you.... God is a God of love, repentance and forgiveness..but his love is for all people equally...even those who haven't found him or have drifted away....those who don't believe in him is still part of his love too...despite what people may say...

So I guess I am wrong about this but that is my right..what is even worse is that people keep demonizing each other and expect different results... or use extremes in examples [[welfare pimps) and then generalize to others....I am fifty and as I get older I see basic humanity and compassion is the key...not fear pimping and hate

I don't find fault with anything you say, Gibran. Your views pretty much mirror my own.

I think that it only makes common sense to act decently.

agreed...does one [[not you 3WC) ever think that if we have been doing this dance for a long time and we haven't gotten really far as a community, if we can shift the paradigm to compassion and working together [[not socialism..but social justice) we could really change our government and corporations...if one kid could pay it forward..what could a whole nation....we blew it in New Orleans where we could have help create a viable multicultural city..instead we rushed to rebuild the same structures and policies....

if we really say down without agendas and said what is truly needed to help each other we wouldn't have the ability to identify it..especially if we asked the people whose stake is the greatest..we are the greatest nation we need to achieve it.

The only part of the article that really rubbed me the wrong way was the bit about "churches synagogues and other religious insitutions cant teach love and tolerance in Saudi Arabia"...Churches and Synagogues teach tolerance? I dont think so. Some have lightened up in order to change with the times, but there are still some extreme-cult like congregations, pastors and rabbis....do a you tube search....
