Default Does anyone else HATE those VW commercials?

Where the Routan is driving around and people are punching each other HARD in the arm everytime they see it? I get so bothered by that, call me a prude, but its just disturbing. Some random person just hauls off and punches whoever they are standing next to, and they're not love taps, its really hard punches. I just find the whole theme of these ads to be so distasteful, and especially where the kids are begging to drive around in the stupid van so they can watch people committing assaults on strangers.

Haven't seen them. The Peter Stormare commercials were brilliant though.

You didn't mention the slugbug fad from circa 1966. Every time a VW beetle approached, the first kid to yell out SLUGBUG! won the right to hit another kid as hard as they could. Yeah, I always though it was pretty stupid too.

Apparently, gratuitous violence sells. Not like they were original, either, even in the 60s.

Not fond of the beverage, or the vehicle. Or any other punches, for that matter.

I'm just surprised there has been no uproar over them promoting violence. I mean, people complained about the BK Chicken, and also the BK King, and even the bugs from the Orkin commercial, but I haven't heard a peep about these offensive and potentially dangerous commercials. I didn't know they had been done already though.

I thought about starting this with the generic "what commercials make you change channels"

the Ben Stein/Shaq comcast commercials are #1
    the slug bug commercial
    the creepy burger king ads

... add to that Duke the talking dog on the Bush's Beans commercial..... or the commercials with the over caffeinated overly red lipsticked scary girl in white on the auto insurance commercial... and don't get me started on the talking mucous nasal commercials... "check out time...."

That would be Flo...the new legend in the insurance wars.

Heard all about her from my step-mother's Texas cousin, who works for a competitor!

She was OK at first...but fresh, perky, and energetic kinda wear on you after a while.

The VW commercial is ridiculous in my opinion. What are these advertising people thinking? I'd like to punch the writers a few times.

Much worse however are the Staples commercials. Those two idiots shouting about how low the prices are really get to me. For the first time ever I sent a letter to Staples canceling our account; I don't care if the prices are lower [[and they're not always I'm told) I won't put up with that s____. Cretins.

Two more that I've seen that really annoy me:

that "turn the tub around" margarine commercial with wazernane from "will & grace"

the Ohio vacation commercials. come on, really? there are goodthings to do -- the air force museum, cedar pointe. but any commercial that says "come see a baseball game!" or "eat a giant hamburger" is just -- stupid. and seriously, do you think those girls even have a clue who bootsey collins is?

The Cialis commercials. How can you have sex when you're in separate bathtubs?

I like the list of possible side effects. Especially the erection lasting 4 hours. If I used this product, and that happened, when it was all said and done, even the undertaker wouldn't be able to get the smile off my face.

I laugh at the blurry vision side effect... proof-positive that the nuns were right: young man, if you keep doing that to yourself, you will go blind.

What is with the two bathtubs, anyway? The symbolism is lost on me.

I dislike the "Punch Dub" commercials. Serious shoulder and arm injuries could occur of people punch other people's shoulders and arms after the see a VW car and color.
