I spent a few days with former Detroit Tigers All-Star Dmitri Young and shot a video feature for the Detroit Free Press about his time here.
He played for the Tigers from 2002-2006 and was release from the team 1 month before the 06 World Series. When through a domestic violence charge, alcoholism and being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Got his life together played for the Washington Nationals and was the MLB comeback player of the year in 2007. Retired after 2008 season and is back in the Detroit area helping coach the Oakland County Cruisers a independent baseball team in the Frontier League [[same league as the Traverse City Beach Bums)

Nice story. Dmitri could flat out hit. It was sad to see him go down, nice to see him come back. He always looked like he was having fun playing the game.

He was the only thing the Tigers had going for a while. Glad to read he's got his health back. You could see he was struggling in '06.
