Default A new motto for Detroit

Ideas for a new [[unofficial) Detroit motto?

In reference to a Mohandas Gandhi quote,
"Be the change you want to see in your city"

The phrase instills responsibility, citizen accountability, and grassroots leadership. Detroit needs more positive messages...

    How about:

"Let's stop killing each other. Duh-uh!"

The motto is the heart of the city. Changing it could large and unforeseen consequences. I for one would not meddle with it.

What's wrong with "I life Detroit in prayer"?
Short, easy to remember and makes for a nice bumper sticker!

I still have a t-shirt from Emily's that says, "say nice things about Detroit."

I also have one that says, "Detroit, a great place ...to be from."

I don't wear either one [[the first due to its vintage and the second because it's an ugly shirt).

If Chicago is "The City That Works" than Detroit must be the opposite.

I always liked the T-shirts they sold in Trappers Alley that featured a handgun and said

"Detroit. Come Back Soon, We Missed You the First Time "

Totally agree w/ you, Michigan. Father Richard's words were prophetic.

I also love the motto of the Detroit Public Schools - "sic itur ad astra" - "reach for the stars." One of the things I wish that we could do is connect current residents of the city with the past, and help them to feel invested in the city's history and legacy.

    Detroit:

    Where people kill people.

    Where brothers killing brothers.

    Where corruption is our strength.

    Where robbery is trade.

    Where murder is OK.

    Where doing drugs is execellent.

Where there is no such thing as a father figure.

Where blacks folks play and whites folks stay away.

Where burning buildings is much easier then tearing it down.

Where stay dogs attack if you step across their path.

These words may be negative, but's life in ghetto.

I'd just like to point out that I'm not arguing against Father Richard's motto.
Key word in my initial post was "unofficial" :]

How about: "We have given up hope; let's make more ashes."?

    Cash and Carry.
"Could you make that in small bills?"
Was that against the law? I was confused.
