Default River Days Festival Returns, smaller

Despite no financial support from General Motors, which has been the title sponsor for the nascent festival for the past two years, the riverfront festival will return in June.

The festival, scaled back this year from four days to three, will run June 19-21 on the RiverWalk. It will be led by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and the Parade Company, both nonprofit companies that announced the return of the festival today.

I'm glad its not going the way of the Detroit Festival of the Arts.

I was afraid we wouldn't have any outdoor festivals to atted this summer.

I had a great time at River Days last year. Scheduled my hiking trip later last year, which inadvertently allowed me to head downtown for the weekend. Never did understand why this event lasted so many days. You get a decent crowd Friday afternoon, lots of folks Saturday and Sunday, but who's going to showup on Monday and Tuesday? Most folks are at work.
