Default 'The city has more healing to do' -- KK

Not him, mind you . . . just the city.

From brief DetNews excerpts of newly published Jet mag interview:
I was out there on a snowplow; if there was a shooting, I was there. Nobody had ever done that before, but I missed my kids' games, dinners at home, anniversaries with my wife -- nothing mattered except doing my job for the City of Detroit, and in doing that job, I failed.

I called that [99-day jail] experience a purification process. Lord knows I don't ever want to go back, but it was not all negative, and I need to say that. God had me right where he wanted me.

If the issue is money, then please let me work. I've never missed a [restitution] payment. My wife and children have suffered enough. Give me an opportunity to work and pay the city back. If it's not about the money, then what is it about? This is not about a probation violation.

I don't think it's time yet [to return] I think the city has more healing to do.

Could be some truth in what he says.....

"if there was a shooting, I was there"

"I missed my kids' games, dinners at home, anniversaries with my wife -- nothing mattered"

"My wife and children have suffered enough"

"If it's not about the money, then what is it about?"

    "I don't think it's time yet [to return] "

"If it's not about the money, then what is it about?" Um, it's about breaking a judge's order. People get thrown in jail for that, too, Mr. Kilpatrick.

He might have been able to squeeze in a few of those anniversaries and time with his kids if he hadn't been banging everything in a skirt.

Just how divorced from reality is this guy?

I was out there on a snowplow; if there was a shooting, I was there. Nobody had ever done that before, but I missed my kids' games, dinners at home, anniversaries with my wife -- nothing mattered except doing my job for the City of Detroit, and in doing that job, I failed.
If it was so bad, why did he fight so hard to keep his position? "Boo hoo, being mayor of Detroit is hard, I'm missing out on enjoying life with my family. Oh, you can relieve of these duties and get me back to my family? No thanks, this job is hard but I'd rather it than the wonderful family I have."

I called that [99-day jail] experience a purification process. Lord knows I don't ever want to go back, but it was not all negative, and I need to say that. God had me right where he wanted me.
Yet he fought being there. Why did God want him there? Did he do something wrong? Is this a simple case of God's favorites always have a hard time? Or did he actually earn his way to jail based on illegal actions?

If the issue is money, then please let me work. I've never missed a [restitution] payment.
Yea? Then why are you being called back to court on probation violations? This guy is simply unreal.

My wife and children have suffered enough.
And just who's fault is that? The evil prosecutor that expects that people should obey the law even if they have a family? God forbid we lock up a murderer because he has a wife and kids and they'll miss them. Please open up all prisons set all the family men free despite their crimes, their families miss them and that's just not right.

Give me an opportunity to work and pay the city back.
Who is stopping you fool? Just pay it back and quit with the games. If you toned down your lifestyle just a little you might find that you could pay the city back without dragging us back down again with these dumb games you're playing!

If it's not about the money, then what is it about? This is not about a probation violation.
Of course it's about your restitution and probation violation. See my last response dumbass.

I don't think it's time yet [to return] I think the city has more healing to do.
Great. Once the city heals and gets itself together this guy wants to come back and mess it up all over again. Here's a tidbit you might not know Kilpatrick, there is NEVER a time for YOU to return to this city, unless it's either to a jail cell or a funeral home.

This is the last straw. I am cancelling my subscriptions to The Final Call, The Dallas Morning News, and Jet Magazine.

He's selling himself to Texas...I hope those Texans don't buy his load of crap. Did he tell anyone in the interview that he cheated on his wife and wrote porn to his mistress almost every day? I think not. Maybe when he was at the Red Roof Inn in Madison Heights he should have been at home celebrating a birthday, or an anniversary, or a ball game.

Also, I don't remember him going out to a shooting scene or a robbery scene. A snowplow??? Give me a break!

Make it stop! Somebody, PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP!

Seriously. It's been almost two years. Can we *please* not have the KMK saga in our news, media people, unless there are new developments in the court case?

Failing that, they ought to just make an ABC or NBC movie of the week or miniseries about the rise and fall of the house of Kilpatrick. All profits would go directly to city coffers.

I don't think he was riding the snowplow the night he got dropped off at that gal's house who had nothing on but a fur coat. Bet he wasn't thinking about the kids and Carllita then either.
This guy sure comes up with the biggest load of BS the size of Texas.

As a Christian, this annoys me. Why do people do all these bad things and then claim it was part of God's plan?

He is delusional, and really has gotten off easy. A better dose of reality might strip away his delusions.
Give him the prison, not jail, sentence he deserves. The same one most all of us plain folk would've received if we pulled the crimes he did.

Not a very good PR guy in my opinion...he has made things much worse for thug KK. Does he really expect people to actually buy this crap he's spewing? thug KK is totally in love with himself [[narcissistic), he's a sociopath, he's egotistical, he's a thief; an adulterer, a very poor excuse for a man. Quit throwing out the God card because it ain't working!

Well, it may not work on you, but it's actually a pretty savvy piece of work. Jet is a national magazine, and lots of people who read it have not heard the details of Kwame and Christine and such. So they are much more likely to only get Kwame's side of the story after reading the piece. And, in the black community, few institutions are as sacred as the church. His appeals to family are also strong, even if they're BS. And since so many African-Americans have extended-family relatives in jail or prison, the readership will likely be more forgiving of that.

Just because we know it's BS doesn't mean everybody else automatically gets it too. Kwame & Co. know exactly what they're up to. I wonder who's paying for it, his PR guy's claims of working pro bono notwithstanding.
