DetroitYES 8th Annual Picnic May 30

Is anyone interested in attending the annual DetroitYES Picnic?

This will be the 8th annual picnic. Sunday, May 30. Starts at 12 noon and runs until 5 or 6pm. We will gather on Belle Isle, just south and east of the Shadynook Picnic Pavilion along Loiter Way across from the Flynn Skating Pavilion.

If there is enough interest, Dave and I are happy to coordinate the picnic once again. We bring a grill, some chairs and tables,as well as picnicware [[plates, napkins, plasticware, and cups). Everyone brings their own chairs, beverages, and meat or other grill item, plus a dish to pass and a dessert or munchies.

In the past several years, attendance has declined, so if you want this tradition to continue, please RSVP in this thread. Let us know how many are in your party and sign up to bring a dish as we need to make our plans for the event.

You can count on me and my girlfriend being there. I miss the pleasantries of the Dyes people from back in the day. I'm sure her youngest son will join us too, as he loves any chance to play at the big play area.

I should be there! I'll see if my aunt, yes that aunt, and uncle want to go too. Maybe they can get their grandchildren, my cousins. Belle Isle is our favorite spot!

As the date gets closer, feel free to post what dish, dessert, and/or munchies you are bringing [[just to avoid overloading on any one type of food!).

And if you can bring a grill or canopy or other supplies, that would be great.

Directions to the picnic site: Get in the left lane on the Belle Isle Bridge and bear left onto Casino Way as you enter the island and then left onto Central Avenue, making an immediate right onto Muse St. Take this one block, turning left onto Loiter Way. Look for us on your left [[north from the Flynn Skating Pavilion). We will try to post signs again this year.
