Yes, it was a pretty contentious thread back then. As I recall, more than one person was very opposed to the elephants moving and wrote that the elephants were the main reason they visited the zoo in the first place.

There were also posts about voting no on the zoo millage because there were no more elephants.

i remember that thread-it's s'funny...after Joseph Skipper did things to Rosa Parks that not even James Blake could, she began spending half the year in a condo in South Central L.A. How sad for Detroit that an icon is safer in South Central than living on a street NAMED for you?

Yeah, he was outraged that people working at the zoo cared more about the animals than the value for his admission dollar. I think he also somehow blamed PETA. What a jackass.
