If this goes on too long, it could dampen Europe's and even the World's economy. Elsewhere I read that a very cold winter thoughout the northern hemisphere was caused by a larger 18th Century Icelandic volcano.

I like Bill Maher's comment on the volcano under his New Rules. He said that the volcano obviously needs a virgin sacrifice so Pope Benedict must throw himself into it.

Actually that icelandic volcano is the result of frequent Earthquakes; part of the first sign of the 2012 Mayan Purification Era Prophecy which its set for December 21, 2012. After to happen the frequent natural disasters will happen anywhere, anytime, any hour. It may be slow, but it will speed up sooner than you all think.
