Default Looking for Google map which highlights points of interest

I am looking for Google map which highlights points of interest

several months ago someone posted a link to a Detroit Area map that would highlight points of interest on a mouse-over

like a dummy I did not save the bookmark - could someone re-post it?

    thanks in advance

    Have you tried GoogleEarth?

You download it to your PC and it becomes an interactive browser type map pulling the information from the web but dispaying it locally. Points of Interest are just one layer you can turn on or off and you can add your own information.

I'm wondering if you might be thinking of one of these?

The map I saw was similar to the wikimapia, which is very nice by the way, but I think it was based on google maps and did something similar.

    thanks for the links

Might it have been Bing? It's easy to pick which POI you want to have on the map.
