Here is a grocery store in downtown Nashville that appears to be working. It was just given Store of the Month in Progressive Grocer magazine. This story is interesting in that it includes a store layout, area demographics, and a lot of information on their evolution.
A local grocer made a store that is 1/5th the size of their regular stores with only one checkout [[5000 sq feet). There is also a photo gallery. Here is the article:\
