Thread: Detroit 911

    Default Detroit 911

When I visit my father in St. Pete, FL I seen that in one of their newpapers they list all the 911 calls that are received in the Tampa Bay, St. Pete areas each night and what the calls are about. Everything from serious crimes to suspicious vehicles sighted on a street [[which usually are high drug traffic areas). They also have crime maps and reports http://www.theledger.com/section/news0699

They also have a site called Tampa Bay Mugshots linked off of St. Petersburg Times which show the faces of all the people booked for the past 24 hours in the local jails. http://mugshots.tampabay.com/

Why does it seem that Detroit is not taking the crime in this city seriously? Somebody could at least they could let the public know the reality of what is going on night after night by running a list of all emergency calls.

Here is an example of a list right here. LOL... i'm sure Detroit's would be far more exciting to read.

Great idea, but could you imagine the outrage from all those Detroiters who insist that Detroit is no more crime-ridden than elsewhere? Why, this would be nothing more than an attempt by racist suburbanites to portray Detroit in a bad light.

Well, there is always going to be a contingent of Detroiters who feel that the problems of perceptions of Detroit are more important than the problems of Detroit. I feel that examining the problems clearly is probably the more practical method to dealing with them, no matter what the Spinners think.
