  1. Default Farewell to Northwest

A longtime local landmark is biting the dust.

I was at Metro over the weekend, and noticed the familiar NWA 747 above was being painted over, with a nice plain blue paint.

    I always liked it.

Oh man that just blows a lot, my approach from the west is never going to be the same

I've been going to the airport since I was 2 [[both my parents are flight attendants for American Airlines), this is a real sad day for me, part of my childhood memories is gone.

I believe, at one time, it was the largest billboard in the world. This would have been in the early 80's when the original message said " the world is going our way" and it was known as Northwest Orient Airlines.

Oh, yes, Northwest Orient, Number One to the Sun. The scene has changed a lot since those days.

We miss you. Sadly [[like the demise of local banks & department stores), regional character, customer service, and uniqueness have been replaced by bland mediocre conformity. Thankful I had a job that involved extensive travel 20 years ago, before the nickel-and-diming and the passenger mandate to both fast and be strip-searched with each trip.

It's called changing times and getting older.

When PanAm folded and Delta picked up some of their fleet, it added a huge challenge to the maintenance and pilot operating manual documentation specialists because it added Airbus to their Boeing and Douglas fleet. I trained Delta's documentation specialists in using the new desktop publishing digital tools to give them new skills in performing their job and the crisis was averted. Now, when I fly on Delta's jets I do so with a bit of personal satisfaction. : )

I saw Eastern fold and PanAm. Glad that Northwest and Delta are together.

Never knew it was once called Northwest Orient. I like that!

Who was it that said, "The fastest way to become a millionaire is to start with a billion dollars and buy an airline" ????
