    Default street view time machine

it seems google is in the process of redoing the street view shots - most intersections have the latest shots - last summer but just going down the road a little you can see the shot from before [[i assume a year or 2 before)

hmmm...the first link gives me a Woodward address but lands me on St. Aubin. And the second link doesn't have a address and lands me on John R and Farmer.

Still won't work. What's the address your trying to show us?

The link sends me to a page that says 4454 Woodward, but puts the streetview at Medbury and Joseph Campau. I think I get what the OP is saying though. When I first get to the page, and when I go past the intersection, it is the view from a couple years ago. In that view, the house is occupied [[windows in tact, furniture on the upper balcony, dish on the side of the house). However, when you get to the point AT the intersection, it is the new view [[boards on some windows, some broken windows, grass overgrown).

I've seen that in a few cities. Same in St. Louis. The intersections are now in HD, and sometimes you really see houses change, some for better and some for worse.

Yes you also see it at the corner of St-Antoine and Monroe in downtown Detroit where a new building with overpass is being built with crane and all. Then as you cross the street you get a finished view of the Greektown casino and hotel. Anyways it is pretty sad to see nice houses like that going to waste. I feel bad for people who carry on in this devastated city mowing their lawns and trying to keep a sense of normalcy.

At least they straightened the stop sign since the house went empty. I can't really tell since it's only that view that shows the building empty [[subsequent moves forward show it occupied), but it looks like maybe there was a fire.

it seems to be really easy to find them - here is a sad one

Here's another one. Kinda sad because one street view shows a guy taking a break from mowing and ostensibly chatting with someone. When you see the lawn mowing guy, click once to the left and... sigh.

My Linux/Firefox combination apparently won't post the street view directly. The address on street view is 440 S Green St Detroit Mi .

The house diagonally across the street from that one has also met its fate. It's quite unfortunate.

That is very upsetting and could have been prevented, which is all the more upsetting. The area bounded roughly by Sherwood, Miller, Winfield, and Georgia has got to be one of the most deserted parts of the city.

Yea, I couldn't see the pictures either. The following can't be what you have because the dates aren't the same, but it's the area around Cooper Elementary and always good for an interesting look:

Here is a copy of a post I made in another thread some time ago. With a apartment building that was there for one round and gone the next.

Anyways I found this quite interesting. This is yet another empty destroyed apartment building. To be fair im sure it was not salvageable or even worth the dirt it was on in this part of town. When you hit the cross street it is gone.

Amazing. A classic DetroitYes thread chronicles this series of quiet demolitions by Ilitch in February of '09 and the uproar & discussion that surrounded it:
