I haven't looked into this project or whatever it is. If someone wants to spend a buck to say they own a piece of Detroit I don't have a problem with that. Seems like straight up capitalism to me. As the semi fictional character Proposition Joe would say "Buy for a dollar, sell for two"

Don't see that quote anywhere. Then again, it isn't in italics, and they used gnome's name, so maybe they interviewed him? Hmm.
