absolutely 100% AGREED. F*uck these neocons and their pyramid schemes. Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Obama - all of them can bite the big one.

Just how many press conferences did W have? Not many.

AS for Gitmo, only Republicans care about a Gitmo timetable and that's just to have something to criticize. No one gets elected by qualifying their promises just like no one gets elected by saying, "Things could have been much worse," even though the Repubs know that they could have been.
And while we're on Repub. hypocrisy, I just love how they point with alarm at the underwear bomber's being mirandized after that was the MO for terrorist trials under W. Hypocrites depend on the voters' short memories and since seniors are the largest voting block, hypocrisy rules.

So, hey Gibran, this is good that we are in Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan? What are we doing there now, trying to catch everyone we dont like, nation building, spreading democracy, pretending to be Bush?

2008 Presidential options included Kucinich, Nader, & Paul.

I met Nader...he is a great man...I don't like nation building...unless the nation invites us
Iraq was a foreign Neocon/Likud job..[[the goal was to create chaos in the middle-east, and have control by US and allies)...but when our troops were engaged we have to support them until the politicians stop it and that is our job ...
Afghanistan is where we were attacked, and subsequently left alone to self destruct..Obama had to at least try and stabilize it, and Pakistan was a key in the first place...my point is and was...the Right have critized Obama as being soft, and he really has been more accurate in his policy in Afghanistan than Bush...He is drawing down Iraq and we will see the draw down in Afghanistan...

I would vote for Kucinich and Nader anyday....

The trouble is none of them stood a snowball's chance in hell of being elected. It has become a two-party system and we must choose from the lesser of two evils.

Unless their is a major crisis and a populace candidate shows they can whip up the masses, I see no chance of a third party gaining any national prominence.

Nader ran on a third party. Kucinich ran as a Dem. and Paul ran as a Republican.

I met Nader in a state that wouldn't let him on the ballot, he was here anyway to increase awareness for the need of incldung him in the presidential debates...didn't work out well there either.

Kucinich and Paul failed to secure their party's nomination, a big no-no if you want to get elected.

My point was they still ran under one of the major parties. Your post made it sound like they hadn't.

Good point Pam, but I think the issue is that you can't be on the fringe and secure your parties nomination regardless if Rep or Dem. You are going to be either left or right of center period. A third party candidate isn't a possibility unless its at a local level. Our two party system guarantees you will be picking what you consider is the lesser of two evils. Radical change ? Ain't happening under our system of government.

Ften...that is exactly what Nader said when I met him ....start local and build a movement,,,we have to make a choice...does that mean a tea party or a real sensible and humane third party?

Yes, it would be more realistic to try to get "fringe" candidates elected to something besides president. They can still have a positive effect. Look at Bernie Sanders.

Actually if you have donors with real deep[[ I mean deep) pockets, and a organization already in place[[ following the teabagger business model) a humane third party like the Green party could do wonders on the political scene.

The reality is if we want to keep the current system we have you are going to get incremental change over time. Even the Civil Rights bill of 1964 which is considered drastic change was originally pretty weak and it got stronger over time with more legislation. If you want the drastic change that you are demanding from Obama then you are looking at some other system of governance.

Or any other person in our present sysytem, for that matter.

I keep talking to people who've totally repudiated Obama. Terms used to describe him are intellectual [[pejorative), arrogant, out of touch [[with working class people), Bush Lite. And I thought I was hard on him. Change seems to be the furthest thing from his mind.

He could move to New Mexico and take up for section 51....i guess even aliens have a right to be freely elected....it does sound like a twilight zone: alien comes to earth to help it's citizens, gets elected and then while putting out some outrageous ideas gets elected president, but then wouldn't that be redundant when his boys come down and request take me to your leader....have a great Friday....

We live in the 'Twilight Zone'. The United States of America is a country, society and culure in serious decline.

Obama is sure looking more like Bush every day. I was hoping for something better, but I am not surprised, since Obama got elected for his used car salesman type abilities. McCain wouldn't have been any better, but he didn't lie about who he was or what his intentions were if he got elected, unlike Mr. Charisma himself, Obummer. I sure hope we get a viable 3rd party candidate, or at least ONE trustworthy Republican or Democrat next time around.

I have to say, I'm starting to regret voting for him. If he doesn't start getting shit done real soon, he'll be gone in 2012. I really thought he was gonna' be the one to make some very needed changes/reforms. I understand things take time, but he's done very little. I'm really dissapointed so far.
