Thread: Downtown spas?

    Default Downtown spas?

My girlfriend and I along with another couple will be in Detroit for four days the end of this month for Autorama at Cobo Hall. My friend's wife will be celebrating her birthday that weekend and he wants to send her to a spa one of those days. I figured my girlfriend will want to go as well. They won't be driving so it has to be somewhere in the people mover loop. Are there any spas downtown? If so, anybody have a recommendation?

The Woodhouse Day Spa on Woodward has a very good reputation. You can take the People Mover to the Grand Circus Park Station, then walk one block South on Woodward Avenue.

There are sadly more vacancies then stores, but the Woodhouse block has a few neat boutiques. You could also throw in breakfast at the Detroit Breakfast House, Oslo, or The Crepe stand.

Although not within the People Mover Loop, I hear that the Motor City Casino Hotel Spa is by leaps and bounds, the nicest of the bunch.

There is a Mind & Body Spa in Ren Cen, Tower 500.

I CAN'T RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT THE WOODHOUSE DAY SPA! Best massage I've ever had [[and I've had some pretty good ones - the Bellagio in Las Vegas takes second place ). Nice calm, relaxing atmosphere. Courteous and attentive staff. Great decor. Complimentary champagne and light snacks. And ditto to starting your morning off right at the Detroit Breakfast House. Yum Yum!

I love me some Detroit Breakfast House, the Greektown Fritata in particular The girlfriend enjoys it as well. Maybe we'll have to introduce our out of state friends to breakfast there. Woodhouse it is then, I'll let my pal know about it. Thanks.

The John R location of Good Girls Go to Paris is closed for "the season". Something about waiting outside in the cold.... although I would eat there once a week if it was open
