I must say, that's sounds a lot like something an "in the closet" racist would say. I'm not accusing you of being one, but what I am saying is discriminaton based on one's culture [[and not their chracter) is just as bad as discrimination by skin color.

Bully for you. Do think that somehow absolves you from being able to display bigotry? It doesn't.

At least you can admit your discriminitory behavior, which is a lot more than I can say for some of your Florida neighbors that used to post here.

At your age, I don't expect any change but how about not looking at other people as "Jewish" or "Haitian illegals" and just looking at them as people. Embracing cultural differences can be a good thing because you're not going to change a culture with your discriminations.

Dr. King's dream that his "...four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." will not be realized until everyone in Hermod's generation is dead. His generation lived in a time where people that weren't white had seperate but less than equal facilities, and that was acceptable. So Hermod, kudos for admitting that you discriminate, and I look forward to a time in the near future where there will be less judging of people based on the color of their skin.

I have seen the senior buses arrive at the casino and it is funny to watch. My husband who is 100 % Polish calles them busha buses.

Once my Mom had 18 items rather than 15 and the cashier rudely turned her away. For Pete's sake she is ninety. She did complain to the store manager who gave her a bouquet of flowers to smooth her ruffled feathers.

Once I took issue with a Kroger policy, I emailed their headquarters and got an email back and a personal phone call. I got an adequate explaination. I was surprised to say the least.

I live near two Krogers and I go to the slightly larger one for better selection but the staff is amazingly rude there. They hire several handicapped citizens and they are the only pleasant people in the store. The other Krogers staff is totally the opposite. Seniors in particular are treated like royality. That's the one I take my Mom to, they are so kind. When she was still driving, they would take her groceries to her car for her. Her greatest pleasure I think sometimes is grocery shopping. [[Depression child) She has been ill lately but getting better. She wanted to go to "her" Kroger and was happy to take her. I was kind of stuck behind her in the cashiers lane and a free cashier unloaded her cart for her. Two baggers and we were out of there quickly.

My favorite Kroger question....."Did you find everything you were looking for ?"

"Not exactly. You see I brought this coupon for cf burger half and half, but for some reason that section is now crammed with Kroger half & half. I also tried to buy some Oscar Meyer bacon, but that cooler is now crammed with Kroger bacon. I also tried to use this coupon for Aunt Millie's hot dog buns, but you are only carrying all wheat this week for some reason, along with 26 varieties of non-slitted Kroger hot dog buns that taste like packing foam. Now I have a question for you. Why doesn't Kroger management just change everything over to Kroger products and go out of business in two weeks....you know, speed up the process a bit ?

Interesting thing -- the kroger at 9 mile and john r is being renovated. The FIRST thing you see when you enter is still the fruit/veggie section, but the second is all the "health food" things

Boy, this thread went for a wild turn. I just wanted to say after reading this I always laugh when I get in line at Kroger; such ill-behaved people I have never seen before. But I do have to say I bag my own groceries on the weekend at Meijer, with my liberal bags from home, ha. The thing that really ticks me off is when someone starts sending their food, whatever down the check out thing on top of your food, smashing my bread or fruit or whatever. My all-time best memory is when some woman went through the no-limit self check out line at Meijer with $200 worth of coupons. It was brazen and stupid and rude - WTF - she had tons of food and paid next to nothing for it. I stood there and watched her like a lemming. But I keep my eyes open for her now, never again! Oh and you definately need to know your prices at Kroger - there is stuff you can buy there reasonably, and there are items they will get you with big time. Remember, Hoffa tried to set Kroger straight a long time ago.....

Not only at Kroger, what food guru came up with that line.
I would not be in line if I needed to find something.
If I did not find it would you run to the proper aisle and get it for ME?

    dumb

I used to be the coupon queen but not anymore. Dates are too short on the coupons. Now I just read the sale circulars and go to several stores. An elderly friend gave me $60 to buy some groceries. She was shocked that I got everything on her list for $18. She doesn't drive and is pretty much a shut in. Now I am starting to think that her other friends and relatives have been taking advantage of her.

I have never been asked , Did you find everything you were looking for, though.

What I do find interesting at stores I frequent is that if I can't find an item I am looking for I just ask the manager and they will bring it in. I appreciate their courtesy.

My favorite store for a"no wait" is Parkway at Riverbend. They don't have an express line, just plenty of cashiers and baggers.

One reason that I think we get such good service is that my husband has a real talent for remembering names and faces. Everywhere we go he knows and greets people personally. I envy him that, half the time I am hard pressed to remember my own phone number

Don't exactly understand all the angst againt Hermod. By his own admission he lives in a mixed race household.

Most southern states have issues with illegals. All he did was complain he did things right and it took years.

Here in Detroit we have plenty of illegals too, doesn't bother me at all. I can pretty much identify nationalities but does that make me a racist?

the problem with illegals isn't with them, but with the businesses that hire them. It intrigues me no end how a store over in St Joe/ Benton Harbor can need to hire tons of workers who barely speak english when so many long-term residents can't find work. That is a change I have seen over the last 5-10 years

    According to Haikoont you're a full-blown racist.
