Default Urban Gardeners and Wannabees All

Tonight, in about an hour, we'll be screening The Garden...a documentary about a positive reaction after the LA riots in South Central LA...then our own Cub and Tuka will be talking about their urban gardening experiences!

Come down to Shed 5 in Eastern Market...don't be shy.

Sorry for the late notice, I only realized it wasn't posted when I arrived to set up...

Cool seeing Jams, Cub, PermaDetroit Kate/Tuka, Gregg from Evolution...and especially Allan for making it all happen...along with about thirty-five or forty other folks interested in making Detroit better.

I couldn't follow the documentary, it was a bunch of sub-titled dialogue that slowly established the players pro-, con-, and otherwise in the battle for this free space that happened in the wake of the LA riots when nothing capitalist would dare intrude. It got strong reviews from those who could perceive it.

Best was meeting another newbie from the near-burbs who was inspired by the group and the documentary to live her convictions...when she admitted such to us after the show we also learned that she had some wisdom we really needed in the group. More canning knowledge that hasn't yet died away, she lived six months of the year on their stored harvests during her formative years.

Another cool night of DetroitAbides, brought to you by the amazing people at the Detroit Evolutionary Labs...just put the third Wednesday evening into your schedule, and check their Facebook page for an update on the upcoming shows.
